NEW YORK, NY, Sept. 30, 2026 — Google now shows an AI Overview for 94% of searches about hiring an AI consultant, choosing an AI consulting firm or buying AI training, according to new research from AI implementation and training company Paloren. The study tracked 18,578 keywords in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia and checked 475 live Google results in September 2026. Paloren sells AI consulting and training services, so the findings describe the market it competes in.

How often do AI Overviews appear for AI consulting searches?
AI Overviews appeared on 447 of the 475 results checked. The rate was 96% for AI consultant and AI consulting firm queries, which is why Paloren suggests buyers use a written checklist for evaluating an AI consulting firm rather than relying on a single AI answer. AI implementation queries showed AI Overviews 97% of the time, and AI training queries 94%.
Which sources do AI Overviews cite?
The AI Overviews contained 3,272 citations drawn from 1,156 different websites. At least one of YouTube, LinkedIn or Reddit was cited in 70% of the answers that listed sources, with YouTube alone appearing in 48%. In Paloren’s review, the provider pages that were cited tended to be practical formats such as cost tables and step-by-step checklists, like its published AI readiness checklist.
Why do small, specific questions matter?
Sixty-two percent of the keywords showed no measurable monthly search volume. Yet 95% of those low-volume questions still triggered an AI Overview when checked. Buyers are asking detailed questions, such as how much an AI consultant costs or what AI training employees need, and AI answers are responding to them.
What should companies hiring AI help do with this?
Paloren recommends that buyers treat an AI answer as a shortlist, not a decision. Buyers should then ask each provider for pricing, a first-project plan and reference clients before signing.
“Buyers now meet an AI answer before they meet a consultant,” said Aaron Agius, an AI strategy consultant and co-founder of Paloren, who was profiled on Barchart earlier this month. “That raises the bar for evidence. Firms that show their costs, methods and results in plain terms are the ones those answers can quote.”
How was the research conducted?
Keyword volumes came from DataForSEO for September 2026. Paloren recorded whether each checked result showed an AI Overview and which websites it cited. Results can vary by location, device and date.
